Retractable canopies

Soft, filtered light when you want shade. An open sky when you don’t. A retractable fabric roof changes with your day.

Make it yours

Open to possibility.

The fabric travels along guided supports to bring shade over a terrace, then folds back to reveal the sky. Plan the roof slope, fabric tension and water route together; suitability for rain depends on the complete system, not just the fabric.

Dimensions, load ratings, waterproofing, motor compatibility and warranty must be confirmed for the selected model and installation.

The details behind your decision.

Use these points to build a specification for your site. Confirm the final model, options and installation drawings together.

Specification guidance

Fabric, seams and light

Specify the fabric reference, color, light transmission and seam layout. A mesh that filters sunlight and a membrane intended for rain protection serve different purposes. Review a physical sample and the complete roof construction before deciding.

Specification guidance

Retraction space and drainage

Allow for the folded fabric stack, carrier movement and clearances at doors. Confirm the roof fall and where collected water leaves the structure. Avoid treating fabric waterproofness as proof that every joint and perimeter is watertight.

Specification guidance

Operating sequence

Agree the normal opening sequence and the instructions for rain, wind, frost and power loss for the exact system. Confirm sensor compatibility and the motor’s access for servicing. Do not infer a universal safe operating limit from a roof photograph.

Procurement guides

Good questions. Clear answers.

Which shade system should I choose?

Choose a retractable canopy when an open sky is your priority. Consider a louvered pergola when adjustable light and an architectural roof matter more. Add side screens for low-angle sun and privacy.

Can a pergola and zip screens work together?

Yes, compatible systems can combine overhead shade and side screening. Check the frame interfaces, drainage, wind exposure and electrical requirements together before confirming the design.

Are all systems waterproof and windproof?

No universal rating applies. Performance varies by model, size, fabric, drainage and installation. Ask for the selected model’s documentation and follow its operating limits.

What should I prepare for an enquiry?

A useful project brief includes site photos, approximate dimensions, location, intended use and any building constraints. These details help narrow the right system before a final site survey and specification.
